Hodnett Cruises to Williams Gove Victory

Greg Hodnett and the Leland's.com. Trone Outdoor #27 cruised to his 3rd United Racing Club victory of 2016. A total of 24 cars were pit side for the midweek show on Wednesday night. Heat races were won by 2014 URC Champion, driver of the Franek Auto Sales #28, Davie "No Panic" Franek, The "Cobra" Chuck Hebing, and Greg Hodnett. When the "9" invert pill was drawn by Franek, the Quality Auto Body #89 of Robbie Stillwaggon was slated to start on the pole position for the 25 lap feature event paying $2,000 to win.

Robbie Stillwaggon and the #29s of Jason Shultz lead the field of 23 cars to the green flag. Stillwaggon quickly jumped out to the lead but the caution was thrown before a lap could be completed when the 29s of Shultz made contact with the wall in turns 1 and 2, also involved where the Brink Construction #47K of Kody Lehman, the Transfleet Concrete #77 of Will Eggimann and the R&S Concrete, Paving and Site Contractors #47 of URC Rookie Adam Carberry. Schultz was the only one that was able to continue, all three other cars went pit side with heavy damage.

On the double file restart Stillwaggon again jumped to the lead before the caution was thrown for the Wilkins Recreation Vehicles #45 of Chuck Hebing turned around in turns 1 - 2. The restart again saw Stillwaggon jump out to the lead, followed by the Weather Proof Roofing #29s of Jason Shultz, the Mach 1 Chassis 1M of Mark Smith and the #27 of Greg Hodnett who moved up from his 7th place starting position in just 1 lap. Stillwaggon lead until lap 10 when Hodnett overtook the #89 car coming out of turn 4.

A lap 12 caution bunched up the field of 360 sprinters again, this time the double file restart saw the 27 of Hodnett take command of the lead position followed by the 1M of Mark Smith, 89 of Robbie Stillwaggon, the 29s of Jason Shultz, and now the Franek Auto Sales #28f of Davie Franek who had worked his way up from the 9th starting position. By lap 15, the top 2 didn't change, but Franek was on the move working his way up to 3rd place. The remaining laps belonged to Hodnett who cruised home to his 3rd URC feature win of the year. Following Hodnett was the 1M of Mark Smith, 28f of Davie Franek who continued to strengthen his URC points lead, 89 of Robbie Stillwaggon, and the 29s of Jason Shultz who had a great run.

The United Racing Club will now be off until Friday July 8th when the Club visits the Fabulous Bedford Speedway located in Western PA. The United Racing Club did not visit Bedford Speedway in 2015 so this will be the first visit since going back to the "Club" status.
