Strada prepped and ready to take on 2019 season

APRIL 13, 2019 – Eddie Strada is on the hunt for a Capitol Renegade United Racing Club win.

Although he’s competed on some level with the club since 2017, that first victory has eluded him thus far. The Pennsylvania native finished last season fifth in points after notching three top-fives and four top-10s throughout the year.

While Strada said a top-five finish in points gives him a little bit of confidence heading into the 2019 season, there’s still a way to go to catch up to the points runs that 2018 champ Josh Weller and 10-time champ Curt Michael made last year.

“We’re just kind of looking for more of a consistent year,” Strada said. “We had stupid things happen last year – didn’t finish a race or wrecked or just being in the wrong place, wrong time. We’re still kind of struggling with our shock package set-up wise and stuff like that, so hopefully this year we’ll be a little bit better.”

Strada plans to run as many URC shows as he can, but also has other commitments and rides that share his attention. “We’re going to try to make the majority of them or maybe bounce around a bit.”

And when he is traveling with URC, Strada said his main goal is to add a win to his resume while also maintaining more consistency throughout the season.

“Just pretty much not have many hiccups or bugs happen,” he said of his expectations for the 2019 season. “As long as we make every feature and finish decent, then I’ll be happy with how our season went. I’m just looking for kind of a smoother, more relaxing year and just finishes, that’s all we’re looking for.”

Strada looks forward to the start of the 2019 URC season and to traveling with the tight-knit club.

“It’s just the kind of people that run it (URC),” that make it fun to compete with, he said.

And the variety of tracks adds to the fun as well.

“Plus we run all the Pennsylvania stuff too, so that’s cool. We get to Delaware and places you don’t go with any other series.”

The 2019 URC season opener is this Sunday at Bridgeport Speedway with racing beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
