Kyle's Background

Residing in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Kyle is happily married to his beautiful wife Taylor Keen, his high school sweetheart. They care for their wonderful Silver Labrador Retriever, Axel.

Kyle was raised at the track, where his grandfather, Jesse Keen owned the famed 5W with driver Randy Wolfe in the 1980’s. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Kyle’s father, Shawn Keen, raced winged super sportsman and 410 sprint cars in Central Pennsylvania, where Kyle was first introduced to dirt track racing at a very young age.

In 2009, Kyle’s grandfather, Jesse Keen, started his own team and formed Keen Motorsports. Keen Motorsports had many notable Sprint Car races behind the family owned team, with drivers such as: Pat Cannon, Daryn Pittman, Tyler Walker, Todd Shaffer, and Brian Leppo.

In May of 2012, Jesse suddenly passed away and the team was forced to close.

Kyle has always been addicted to dirt racing, and after watching many sprint car races during the 2018 season, and spending time on the iRacing simulator, decided it was time to re-introduce the Keen Family back into sprint car racing.

With no prior racing experience and only about a year of spinning wrenches on his grandfather’s sprints, Kyle resurrected the Keen Motorsports team and started his first season of racing in a 305 Sprint Car in 2019. Kyle landed in the top 10 on several occasions, and was up to 8th at one point in the season with the national IMCA 305 rookie points standings.

Kyle’s been building a knowledge base and learning more every week in 2020, and has knocked on the door of winning a few races to this point with career best finishes, and finishing in the top ten nearly every week. Outside of racing, Kyle enjoys spending time hunting, hanging out with his friends and wife, iRacing and learning about business and marketing.

2021 saw Kyle take a year off to re-build his race team in preparation for the 2022 season. Kyle was crew-chief for Kenny Heffner in his 305. Together, they were both able to get their first win at Port Royal Speedway.
